Rome is burning while Nero nurtures his fantasy of becoming an immortal god, master of the life of his people, whom he controls with his policy of 'bread and circus'. Obliged by his mother Agrippina to become emperor, he kills her, although this does not liberate him of her presence. The return of General Marco Vinicio following his victorious campaign in Brittany unleashes a series of conflicts in the Roman court. All of this, together with Nero’s immeasurable cruelty, chain assassinations and his government’s tyranny, provokes a conspiracy of senators to overthrow him.
