The National Ballet of Cuba, one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world directed by the legendary ballerina Alicia Alonso, is back at the Teatro Cervantes to perform one of the masterpieces of the history of dance and one of the most emblematic and renowned pieces of the company’s repertory.
Cinderella is the only music composed by Johann Strauss expressly for ballet. Following the classical tradition of Marius Petipa, the Cuban choreographer Pedro Consuegra presented his version of the ballet at the Marseille Opera in 1988. For the National Ballet of Cuba he substantially revised his choreography and enriched its technical and dramatic aspects, revision which was premiered in Havana in 1996.
