28th AWARD TEATRO DE ROJAS TO ANTONIO CAMPOS AS BEST MALE PERFORMANCE AND TO EL LAZARILLO… AS BEST SHOW OF CASTILLA-LA MANCHA
ANTONIO CAMPOS WAS CANDIDATE FOR BEST ACTOR AT THE 23RD MAS AWARDS FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Lazarillo de Tormes is the representation of all the needy and the homeless of an era. An antihero, an astute scoundrel who suffered setbacks and hunger on passing from one master to the next. Luckily, and in spite of everything, our main character was able to have more decent life, which is when he summarises his vision of reality and presents himself as an insignificant “Mr Nobody”. The Golden Age and the present meet by means of the humour and the irony that oozes from the text and is accentuated by bulerias, fandangos and soleares.
In this adaptation of one of the most important novels of Spanish literature, text and melody merge to narrate the reality of 16th century Castilian society XVI, in which misery and wiliness to survive go hand in hand. Albacity Corporation seeks to bring the classic to new audiences and once again convert the performing arts into a tool for education, enhancing the links between formal education and theatre.

The World Theatre Day was created in 1962 by the Internationall Theatre Institute (ITI) to spread the importance of this genre for culture worldwide. The date chosen for the event was the 27th of March, as that was day on which the season began at the Theatre des Nations in Paris, an event that sought to unite countries in the context of European reconstruction following WWII.
Every year a prominent international figure is invited by UNESCO to write and share a message about theatre, culture and peace. The first one was pronounced on the 27th of March, 1962 by the French poet, playwright and filmmaker Jean Cocteau.
