“Musical adaptation of The Knight of Olmedo, by Lope de Vega, created for La Escena 2020, the Hispanic Classical Theatre Festival of Los Ángeles. Just like a painter uses paint on a white canvas, at Jóvenes Clásicos our goal is to paint for the audience’s delight. Thus, our point of departure is the natural musicality of the verse, in a show that revolves around ten original songs and a stage set that recreates a club with the aesthetics of the 1950’s. A reminiscence of the aroma that comes from the verses of the Phoenix of Ingenuity, a melancholic and nostalgic chant to love and the end of love.”   NTM
Jóvenes Clásicos was founded in 2017 by José Carlos Cuevas in his hometown of Malaga, following his stay with the National Classical Theatre Company [Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico]. The company is exclusively devoted  to Spain’s Golden Age Theatre, with the clear objective of reviewing our classics to adapt them and bring them closer to present day audiences.
