A reencounter with Manuel Azaña, the man who has accompanied Jose Luis Gomez in the course of his professional career and a key figure in Spain’s historical and political evolution. In 1980, at the time of the so-called Transition, Gomez produced a stage version of Azaña’s “Velada in Benicarló”. Eight years later he premiered the production Azaña, una pasión española at the National Drama Centre, which he restaged on several occasions as a production of La Abadia theatre. With this production he is back to share with us this immersion in the speeches, articles and letters of the renowned statesman and writer. In order to keep historical memory alive, it is worth recalling Azaña’s moderation and lucidity.
