MÁLAGA 1833 – 1885. LOS CONTRASTES DE UNA CIUDAD EN DESARROLLO. Manuel Morales
During the nearly fifty years that transpired following the death of Ferdinand VII in 1833 and the establishment of the liberal-bourgeois regime in Spain until 1885, when the earthquakes that began the previous Christmas eve highlighted the severity of the crisis that had begun ten years before, Malaga underwent unprecedented changes which were not experienced the same way by the new social classes, marked by sharp contrasts and economic, social, political and cultural inequalities. The objective of this book is to explain this process, with its lights and shadows, paying special attention to cultural initiatives of the period, including the creation of the Teatro Cervantes.
