On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Joven Orquesta Provincial de Málaga will join Teatro Cervantes’ 150th anniversary as an acknowledgement of the support given by the families who have entrusted the orchestra with their children’s musical training, of the persons in charge of this project at all levels, and of the institutions, in particular the Malaga Provincial Government and the Teatro Cervantes, for making the JOPMA a reality and a benchmark for Europe as a whole.
This convergence of celebrations includes a third one, since in the second part of the programme the orchestra will perform Beethoven’s emblematic Fifth Symphony as a tribute to the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth in Bonn.
Since its creation in 1990, the JOPMA, which is committed to the permanent training of young musicians, has had more than 1900 students and has offered more than 450 concerts in four continents. At present it accepts students from the age of 10, most of whom are also enrolled in the different conservatories of Malaga.
