The clearly impressionist inspiration of the symphonic poem Melodía en el llano by Antonio Estévez evokes the plains and plateaus of the Venezuelan composer’s Guarico homeland.

The Flute Concerto by the composer from Murcia Manuel Moreno Buendía was first performed by the Cordoba Orchestra in 2008. Corresponding to the author’s refined aesthetics, it is written in four tempos, giving the soloist an opportunity to exhibit his talent.

The short orchestral fantasy El Salón México by Aaron Copland is, as he himself described it, a popurrí of melodies and popular dances of that Latin American country with which the author seeks to reflect the boisterous musical image of a dance hall of the Mexican capital.

Leonard Bernstein is universally known as the composer of West Side Story, Robert Wise’s iconic 1961 film version having contributed to its dissemination.
