Andrea Motis returns to Teatro Cervantes with her habitual jazz quintet and the project Do outro lado do azul, dedicated to Brazil, one of the countries that has had the greatest influence on universal music. This album includes pre-Columbian pieces and others that merge jazz and Brazilian rhythms composed by Sergio Krakowski, Ignasi Terraza, Tom Harrell, Juan Mar Sauqué and Andrea Motis herself, allowing spectators to penetrate into the origins of the music of Rio de Janeiro.
The case of Andrea Motis, a trumpet and saxophone player and singer from Barcelona, is unique in the Spanish jazz scene. At age 15, she demonstrated her incredible maturity in her first record, and a year later she was playing with Quincy Jones’ Global Gumbo at the Peralada Festival. Just 26, she is now celebrating ten years on stage together with the musicians who usually accompany her and with the double bass player Joan Chamorro, her accomplice and mentor, with whom she has published eight albums and collaborated in many other projects. With her feel for swing, her exquisite vocal expertise, her powerful and flawless sound, Andrea Motis has dazzled spectators with her shows at the best national and international music festivals.
