The Mexican Antonio Sánchez is acknowledged by fans and critics as one of the most skilled and interesting drummers of his generation, with a great capacity for leadership, as evidenced by his four Grammy awards and the astonishing list of musicians with whom he has worked.
Pat Metheny calls him “my main collaborator in recent years”, although he habitually appears on tour and in records with Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Charlie Haden, Gary Burton, Toots Thielmans and Dianne Reeves. In 2016, when Antonio Sanchez was awarded the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Birdman, the general public became aware of what his peers already knew. Since then he has not stopped. His work dynamics enable him to balance complexity and emotion, intellect and soul. He is able to perform pieces with extremely difficult rhythms and the most delicate melodic nuances. Sanchez is coming to Malaga accompanied by Migration, his band of reference, with which he wants to raise awareness regarding musicians who, like him, have had to leave their country.
