“This show re-examines flamenco from inside Spain and flamenco from those who were in exile, flamenco that was shaped under the Franco regime and also among the great artists who had to leave Spain. Above all, it is a flamenco of men. In this staging, the ‘pure’ dances from Gades to Farruco coexist with the dramaturgies that in their time took flamenco, with the help of Lorca, to the most avant-garde stages in the world.” Úrsula López
Úrsula López, was born in Montilla (Cordoba) but grew up in Algeciras. She has a degree in Classical Ballet, Spanish Dance and Flamenco. She has held positions of responsibility in the most important institutional companies in Spain, such as the National Ballet of Spain, in which she has been prima ballerina, soloist and guest artist for more than seven years under the direction of José Antonio Ruiz, and the Flamenco Balled of Andalusia, of which she has been artistic coordinator, soloist, prima ballerina and artistic director from 2020 to 2023.
