Tango infame is R.E.A Danza’s tribute to tango, courtesy of/ through Piazzolla. They have the same anniversary date and same understanding of the genre, which transcends the limits of folklore and its social aspects to become a living artistic element in constant evolution. According to Borges, “the origin of tango is shameful”. It stemmed from disreputable places and is presently considered world intangible heritage. Tango infame is conceived around three basic elements: its origins and its characters; the energy of the city with Piazzolla and R.E.A’s backbone, a metal installation with semicircles whose movement symbolises this fundamental transformation.
This year R.E.A (Reminiscencias, Experimento, Artístico) is thirty years old. Three decades of dance, of uninterrupted work, artistic creations and cultural promotion. It was founded in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and is celebrating its birthday in Malaga, where it settled 20 years ago. The fusion of tango, Argentinian folklore, contemporary dance, vertical dance and acrobatics are the trademarks of this original company.
