“From the moment we appear on stage, life is theatre, but this time it is not fiction, because now we are speaking of my life, of how I have lived as an actress of my own biography. This, for me, is the most important role of all possible roles.”

I have spent a great part of my professional life (so to say) in the field of fiction and I keep discovering again and again that the works of reality are as “fantastic” as the works of fantasy.

That is why I often prefer to see a documentary rather than a work of art and I do not tire from listening to what people have lived in reality. However I do sometimes tire of listening only to opinions.

Besides smells and tastes, there are pieces of music that “fixate” in our memory and evoke it. So, I will explain this and that, my life, not only through words, but also through notes.

Since I recall, I have been very sensitive to pieces of music that have accompanied certain periods of my life. They have stimulated me and they live on in my as echoes of the times lived and promises of the times to come.”   HANNA SCHYGULLA

Several decades have gone by since Hanna Schygulla (Königshütte (now Poland), 1943) contributed with her enigmatic performances to the success of what is known as the “new German cinema” of the 70s. The actress and singer who haunted Fassbinder and Wim Wenders –Lili Marleen, Beware of a Holy Whore, The Wrong Move …– returns to the stage with her sung autobiography with which she gives us a wide and varied selection of titles that marked an era, her era; a life, her life.
