Originally written by Melchor Lengyel as a short story, the master of light comedy Ernst Lubitsch made it into a film, which was to come to be considered a masterpiece of world cinema. To Be or Not To Be –curiously a premonition of the invasion of Poland by the Nazi army later confirmed by History–, chronicles the adventures of a theatre company that is trying to put on an anti-Nazi play during the war period. Political pressures make them cancel the performance, become members of the resistance and finally play Hamlet instead. The main actors, the marriage formed by Joseph and Maria Tura, will see themselves involved in part of a cruel plot when a Nazi spy gets their names through her lover, a Polish pilot exiled in England. To carry out this dangerous mission, he will have to put to use all his artistic skills.

Different theatrical mechanisms and a set design that plays with the image of a videoprojector manage to make the audience feel they are part of a movie.

Amparo Larrañaga returns to the stage after seven years of absence, with the first theatre adaption of this classic film. The actress, before focusing on TV projects, performed in The Dolls House, Les liaisons dangereuses and Partners in Crime, says she has approached this role with braveness, modesty and responsibility, given the weight of the film.
