At the start of the 80’s Spain was thrown into confusion by a coup d’état, rocketing inflation and millions of people desperately seeking for a job. A social, political and cultural change, full of hope, would place Spanish society on the road towards modernity.  
A series of new groups are offering new ideas which are often more scenic than musical... Mario and Colate are friends who live in a small village and share a dream: to travel to Madrid and start a music group. But finding one’s niche in a capital undergoing a cultural and social revolution of sorts is not easy: they can’t get a job, they have no money, and no record house will give them the break they need. Gradually, circumstances change, and Madrid in the eighties will be the stage where the main characters live, suffer, love, experience happiness and sadness... and become Spain’s biggest group.
There have been few hits as big as those performed by Mecano, and few musicals which have touched and delighted more than one million two hundred thousand theatre-goers.
