Campillos, Malaga, 1980. Ortiz completed his studies at the Malaga Higher Conservatory of Music; Reina Sofía Higher School of Music, Madrid; L´Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris and the Music Department at the University of Alcalá de Henares. As well as his recent success in the Barcelona Palau de la Música awards, Ortiz has also won other first prizes in national and international competitions. Ortiz has performed as soloist at the National Auditorium in Madrid, the Barcelona Lyceum, Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada and the Palacio de Festivales in Cantabria to name but a few. The pianist has recorded for TVE (Spanish Television) and RNE’s (Spanish National Radio) Radio Clásica. After winning the award for Musical Performance from the ‘Amigos del Colegio de España’ in Paris, he also recorded a CD with pieces by Debussy, Ravel, Albéniz, Bártok and Prokofiev.
ALDO CECCATO conductor
Born in Milan in 1934, he began his musical studies at the city’s Verdi Conservatory, before continuing at the Berlin Higher School of Music. Ceccato has held the post of Principal Conductor at the Hamburg and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestras, the Hannover NDR Orchestra and the RAI in Turin; he has also been Permanent Artistic Director at the Detroit Symphonic and conducted the Berlin, New York, Israel and London Philharmonics. Between 1991 and 1994, Ceccato was Principal Conductor of the Spanish National Orchestra and received a Gold Medal from the City of Hamburg for his dedication to the works of Johannes Brahms. Ceccato was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Eastern Michigan University, is a Member of the Academy at Santa Cecilia in Rome and since the 2004-2005 season has been Lead Artistic Director of the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra.
