Symphony number 5 in C Minor, Op. 67, L. van Beethoven
Reduced suite of four of the best episodes of Spielberg’s film E.T. The Extraterrestrial, whose score, which earned John Williams his fourth Oscar, has a marked mystical and dreamlike feel to it, with some heroic character traits.
The pied piper fantasy, one of the most popular compositions by the also Oscar-winner John Corigliano, contains seven of the most transcendent episodes of R. Browning’s poem based on the story The Pied Piper. Fascinatingly descriptive, the show will be accompanied by a group of child recorder players.
There is no work as exceptionally and lastingly popular as Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. It is known worldwide, even if only for the orchestral tension at the beginning. Four notes –according to the composer, the sound “of destiny knocking on your door”- reveal the complex human and artistic personality of this musical genius.
