La fragilidad del equilibrio (The fragility of equilibrium), N. Núñez (*)
Piano and orchestra concerto in A minor, Op. 54, R. Schumann
Symphony number 2 in D major, Op. 73, J. Brahms
(*) World Premiere. Piece commissioned by the OFM, the Fundacion Autor and the AEOS
World premiere of The Fragility of Equilibrium, by Jerez-born composer Nuria Núñez. According to her own words “it explores, during the different sections, processes that seek equilibrium, each of them finding a ‘point of compensation’ from which they start to degenerate to give way to another”.
Schumann’s Concerto for piano and orchestra is one of the German composer’s most significant and unique works. Impregnated with tenderness and youth, it is a translucid and positive composition in all aspects, the product of an inspired genius.
Johannes Brahms, a great friend and admirer of Schumann and his wife Clara, with whom he was platonically in love, wrote his Symphony number 2 in an incredibly short time, it nevertheless being the most seductive of all his symphonies, thanks to the vitality and youthful drive that ooze from staffs.
