French Horn JAVIER BONET
La Péri: Choreographic Poem, P. Dukas
French Horn Concerto, S. Brotons
Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, C. Debussy
L´Ascension, four meditations for orchestra, O. Messiaen
Three of the best pieces of the French repertoire accompany one of Salvador Brotons’ most recent works. His French Horn Concerto unveils all the secrets of this instrument offering a historical journey of its evolution in three clarifying movements.
Before, as an introduction to the impressionist sound and aesthetics, Paul Dukas’ beautiful and poematic ballet, composed with technical mastery in a single act, La Péri.
Two of the most representative works of French musical creation close this fascinating programme. Débussy’s very free illustration of Mallarmé’s poem, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, is considered by some as the awakening of modern music, among other reasons, for its exquisite orchestral wealth. And, no less transcendent from the instrumental point of view, the meditations for orchestra of L’Ascension, Olivier Messiaen’s masterpiece inspired in the Holy Scriptures.
