Mayte Martín presents alCANTARa MANUEL, a collection of songs created from the verses of Malaga’s journalist and poet Manuel Alcántara, with music composed by Martín herself, who, once more, surprises, provokes and reaffirms herself as one of the most unique voices of contemporary flamenco.
The repertoire, created by commission from the Málaga Flamenco Festival in 2007, is a selection of expressive and biographic poems on love and death, war, the poet’s childhood, verses that speak of pure life, of poetic intimacy. Words charged with emotion that Mayte captures with her music to dress them up in bolero, tango, bulería, alegrías and even blues pieces.
