Najwa has decided to take a step further with her new record, the fourth in her solo career. In El último primate she sings only in Spanish for the first time in her career, moving away from her most commercial and danceable sound to delve into a conceptual and intimate musical space and leaving behind her characteristic whisper to express herself in a loud and energetic tone. Exquisite and coherent, in any case. Without entirely moving away from electronic music, this record is far more organic, richer from an acoustic point of view, and also much more soulful and personal in content. The lyrics, eleven out of the twelve written by Najwa herself, relish in the abstract, in the search for something or somebody, in anguish, in emotion, with many cinematographic references and a barely restrained violence.
For its romantic and sombre nature, Najwa defines it as a “romance with Lucifer”.
