The Moonlight Serenaders
The Uptown Hall Gang

Director  RAY McVAY

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is one of the most popular big bands in the world. Founded in 1988, it has since maintained the same formula that gave birth to the legendary American music: five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, three drums and two vocalists, male and female. In the 1940’s, all big band music had an identifiable melody, and The Glenn Miller Orchestra’s was “Moonlight Serenade.” It was written by the composer as an exercise for a musical arrangement course, and today is considered a paradigm of American music, on top of being one of the most reproduced songs in history.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra’s repertoire includes more than 200 themes, many of which were originally written by other artists, such as “In the Mood,” “American Patrol,” “Jukebox Saturday” and “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” and other contributions from important arrangers such as Jerry Gray, Billy May and Hill Finegan. The singing group, The Moonlight Serenaders, and the jazz group, The Uptown Hall Gang, preserve Glenn Miller’s authentic style and transform the show into an incredible journey into the golden age of swing.

Ray McVay is one of the major directors from the music scene in the U.K. Throughout his professional career, he has been linked to famous stars such as Paul Anka, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck.
