At the end of the 60s, two young kids, Chick Corea (Chelsea, Massachussets,USA, 1941) and John McLaughlin (Yorkshire, England, 1942) were invited by the legendary Miles Davis to join his mythic band and work together on the classic Bitches brew, an album with an innovative fusion of jazz, rock and funk. Later, each one of them formed their own band: McLaughlin, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Corea, Return to Forever, considered one of the most important and progressive bands in the history of jazz. Since then, both of them have had extraordinarily prolific careers, with constant, creative productions that encompass different musical styles, while always maintaining an incomparable artistic integrity, making them legends based on their own merit. Now, in this new musical project, the Five Peace band, Corea and McLaughlin get together once again along with some of the best musicians in modern jazz.
Chick Corea is an indisputable reference for modern jazz. Defying labels and categories, he feels equally comfortable in both acoustic and electronic atmospheres. He interprets sublime solo piano concerts, and then recreates himself in collaborations with amazing orchestral arrangements.
Veteran guitarist and grand master John McLaughlin has demonstrated his virtuosity in different styles throughout his celebrated career. His collaborations with Santana, Al DiMeola and Bill Evans are emblematic. During the 70s, his group Shakti, which drew him closer to the culture and mysticism of India, was very popular.
