Esperando verte
The seventh record of Niña Pastori, Esperando verte, appears more than three years after her last and in time to celebrate her recent motherhood. “It is more flamenco, always within my style; there are tangos, bulerías, fandangos de Huelva…” A record full of enthusiasm and with a very special meaning, which is reflected in the song that gives title to the record, dedicated to her daughter Pastora, with whom she was pregnant and who was born during the recording. The songs on Esperando verte have all been composed by Niña Pastori and Chaboli, her husband and producer, and include the names of renowned musicians such as guitarists Diego del Morao, José Miguel Carmona (former Ketama member) and Vicente Amigo.
Niña Pastori, the artistic name of María Rosa García García (San Fernando, Cádiz, 1978) is the daughter of La Pastora, who took the name from the popular neighbourhood of the town of San Fernando. She was barely eight when she was discovered and encouraged by the great Camarón de la Isla. In 1995 she published her first record, Entre dos puertos, where she already defined her style — a happy flamenco-pop combination which, over time, has been enriched with other genres such as melodic songs, bachata, bolero, copla and rumba. Her following records were entitled Eres luz (98), Cañaílla (00), María (02), No hay quinto malo (04) and Joyas prestadas (05), all of which became gold or platinum records. She now returns with an album in which she says she “sings differently, with my body full of feelings”. Her voice — a combination of freshness and the mysterious wisdom of an old flamenco singer, full of ease and sensitivity — defines the artistic personality of a Niña Pastori who sings straight to the heart. She has sold two million records so far in her ten-year musical career.
