El Béjart Ballet Lausanne reclaims the twentieth century Ballet that the mythical French choreographer and dancer, who died on November 22nd, created in 1960. On this occasion, the Béjart Company will recreate three great ballet classics. L’Oiseau de feu, has choreography that breaks with structures and classical rhythms. Elton Berg, is a game, an experiment and a delicate exercise in which the character changes in the same sequences of movements when played to different scores are evident. In one of the versions, the music is by Elton John; in the other, it’s by one of the most representative and influential composers of the twentieth century, Alban Berg. Finally, there’s Suite de danses, with some of the most beautiful choreography created by Béjart in his lifetime. These three pieces give an idea of the eclectic and innovative work of the man who would revolutionise the world of dance with his more than two hundred creations. With academic discipline, curiosity led the legendary Maurice Béjart to create a repertoire in which different formats and styles breathe together; ballets which are “above all, encounters with music, life, death, love “.

Maurice Béjart (Marseille, 1927 – Laussane, 2007), as well as being an icon and innovator of twentieth century dance, contributed decisively to updating dance and to bringing it to the masses.
